Awesome Pi

RaspberryPi

I just ordered my Raspberry Pi from element14 and to say I’m excited would be a severe understatement; my geek senses have been tingling all day! So what is this Pi I speak of? You can learn all about it here, here or even here.

And what am I going to do with mine?

With my first one I plan on making it into a HTPC (home theater pc). Being that it is so small, having HDMI out and no fan makes it a perfect fit to mount under pretty much any TV or monitor. I’ll probably look to use a USB NIC to make it completely wireless, except for power of course, assuming I can get the drivers to play nice.

The possibilities are really endless for what you can do with a computer you could put literally anywhere. I’m ready to see what the hacking/modding community will unleash in the coming months!

Starting Fresh

I’ve had this domain for almost 5 years now. If it were my child I would be teaching it to ride a bike about now.

I’ve used this site for a variety of things ranging from a development blog with links to show my friends how cool I was to a simple splash page (before about.me came along) to be my “internet landing page”. While making all these changes I’ve learned basic HTML/CSS, PHP and how WordPress works its magic. Success.

My main purpose the last go round was to sort of coordinate and combine all my internet activity: tweets, instagrams, funny links and videos into one place. This was a great idea but not something I could implement that was better than what the original services were already providing. So after realizing this I’ve resorted back to making this blog more about me. (That sounds really conceded but you know what I mean.)

I’ll count this as the 349th time I’ve revamped this site. I’m going to try to stick with this theme, attitude and overall schedule of something “witty” preferable once a week. This is no guarantee of course but putting it out there holds me somewhat accountable.

That’s all for now. Back to my secret SW:TOR addiction. Laters.

Moving Time

MovingTime

Houston has been amazing, it really has.

It was the first city I lived in out of college and I have to say I’ve learned so much not only about myself but how the world turns over the past two years. I’ve got to experience some amazing things with some remarkable people.

I knew a total of one person from my graduating class at OSU when I moved here. Now I can honestly say I am leaving a group of true friends behind. This is bitter-sweet as while I start over in another new place and move away from these friends, Dallas is home to two of my former college roommates and best friends (who I look forward to getting into trouble, er hanging out with again).

This also puts me around three hours from my family (compared to nine) and seeing them more is important to me. I won’t be moving until early April but have officially lined up everything to make it a smooth transition.

Here’s looking forward to the good times ahead in Dallas.
