Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.

“2011 went by so fast!” -Everyone ever.
While I too was caught complaining about how fast 2011 went by I couldn’t be more excited for 2012. Fresh starts in lots of areas but mostly excited about the opportunity to travel.
I hope you enjoy 2012! Hey, it could be your last year you know. Those Mayan’s could be right… ;)

Probably the best trip I’ve been on. Ever.
For the new year, four friends and I (only three shown here) decided to venture to Arizona for the 2011 Fiesta Bowl that our alumni were playing in. Wanting to see as much as possible while in Arizona we stayed in three different cities starting with the first two nights in Tempe which was an absolute blast. Seventy-five degree weather with no wind or humidity. Perfect.
During our second day we were able to get some fairly cheap tickets to the Insight Bowl to watch Iowa and Oklahoma play. The game wasn’t as exciting as we would have liked but still cool to see Arizona State’s campus.
The next night we attended the Fiesta Bowl party downtown for New Years Eve with the official Fiesta “chip” drop. It’s exactly what it sounds like, they dropped a huge chip instead of a ball but very fun nonetheless.
Our third day was spent in Phoenix. We grabbed some dinner downtown before heading back to Tempe for the evening. This night was our first interaction with the Stanford fans and for the most part they were pretty cool. We also discovered Bernie and about one hundred other slang’s/inside jokes I can’t stop overusing.
Monday we woke up and pulled ourselves together to get ready to cheer on the Cowboys. I was shocked at how well Oklahoma State travels, orange everywhere. The game was killer, Kyle did great on our seats. A little high but dead on the forty so we could see the whole field and although we didn’t get off to a great start our Cowboys snuck by with the win.
The 41-38 final was icing on the cake to an already awesome weekend.

Wishing you and yours a happy and safe holiday.
Christmas is my favorite holiday based solely upon getting to see my family for the longest period of time. Gifts are cool, but making the family laugh makes it for me.
